What Will I learn?
Phrases: You will learn how to greet another person (familiar and unfamiliar), and also how to introduce and express basic information about yourself (i.e. age, likes and dislikes, family members, etc.). You will also learn how to ask and give directions, order food at a restaurant, and ask basic questions about locations, health, emotions, and time.
Vocabulary: Learn simple adjectives to describe objects (such as “large” and “long”), basic body parts (such as “head,” “hand,” “foot,” etc.), and immediate family members. You will also learn dates of the year, as well as numbers up to one million.
Grammar: Practice how to do verb-object constructions, how to express past, present, and future events, how to use objects in simple sentences, simple yes/no questions, and interrogative and declarative sentences.
Culture: You will gain an understanding of Mandarin-speaking cultures, including: economy, traditions, history, and political structure.

What Will I learn?
Introduction to key economic principles:
Gain an understanding of choices people must
make as producers, consumers, investors, and
taxpayers. Students will have ample
opportunity to develop their points of view
and apply what they learn to the promotion
of civic action.
Examination of markets from both a historic and current perspective;
You will study the basics of supply and
demand; study the theories of early economic
philosophers; theories of value; the concept
of money and how it evolved; the role of
banks, investment houses and the Federal
Reserve; Keynesian economics; the
productivity, wages, investment and growth
involved in capitalism; unemployment,
inflations, and the national debt.
Survey of foreign markets: Learn about markets in areas such as China, Europe, and the Middle East.

What Will I learn?
Exploration of geographic features: Study how human relationships, political and social structures, economics, science and technology, and the arts have developed and influenced life in countries around the world.
Study of maps and topography: You will be given rigorous instruction on how to read maps, charts and graphs, and how to create them.
History and current events: Discover how a mountain in the distance can inspire a Sufi poet, how a river blocking a passage occupies a civil engineer and ship builder alike, and how the sound of a busy Cairo street inspires a musician. Human history is all about cultures meeting — how they influence and inspire each other; what sets one apart from the next; and how they battle each other for land, natural resources, religious dominance, and more.
